I saw this image in RDSTUDIO in its February 2007 issue. It’s called “Devi II” by Ajay De with Charcoal and Acrylic on paper.
Sure! But it also shows the plight of some women in India.
Despite having a glow of happiness on their faces, their marriage life sucks away any other identity. The brightened vermillion represents the only identity, on this ugly dark face, a lost identity.
It is ugly but perhaps thats what life becomes for these unfateful women..
