The melting glaciers

Global warming has long ago been termed a reality and its effects are not only seen in the far lands of the Antartica, where the penguins dwell, but also in our neighbourhood – the biggest mountain ranges, the Himalayas. The BBC says that Scientists are doing their job and that it now rests in the hands of humans, the politicians to control the drastic climatic change that is occuring on our beloved planet.

The Hindustan times today (read the epaper here, you will have to register once) says that there has been deglaciation upto 21% since 1962 in the Himalayan glaciers. The ISRO team has carried out extensive expeditions to design their models proving the effects of global warming on the glaciers. The IPCC will soon come out with its 4th climate change Assessment report and I won’t be surprised if the findings are similar.Let us ponder our role.
